Can computers produce original art and music? Google is finding out #AI

  • Google is launching a new artificial intelligence group called “Magenta” to see if computers can create their own masterpieces, according to Quartz.
  • The article is published in collaboration with Business Insider .
  • Magenta will also be adding new software to its GitHub page and posting regular updates to a blog from this date.
  • In order to determine whether this is possible, the Magenta team will use TensorFlow – a software library for machine intelligence that Google built and opened up to the public at the end of last year.

Could artificial intelligence create original works of art?

Could artificial intelligence create original works of art?:

  • Now the plan is to put the art back into artificial intelligence.
  • As of June 1, Google will launch Magenta, a project which will work on teaching artificial intelligence to create art.
  • Google’s latest project, Magenta, plans to train AI systems to make art, music and videos
  • There was also talk at Moogfest about launching a Magenta app alongside the project, to gauge whether the general public liked the art the AI was producing, or whether they were just caught up in the novelty.
  • The project hopes to rectify this, opening the Magenta project to the public to allow the system to further expand its knowledge.

Adobe Adds ‘Shazam for Fonts’ Tool to Photoshop – News Center

How awesome is this?! Using GPUs + #deeplearning, Adobe adds 'Shazam for fonts' to Photoshop

  • Photoshop is using artificial intelligence to help designers identify typefaces that they have seen elsewhere.
  • Revealed last year by Adobe researchers, DeepFont uses NVIDIA GPUs and deep learning to look at the curves and other characteristics of fonts used in the captured image and then compares it to a database of nearly 20,000 fonts to find similar fonts.
  • The tool will be available to users with a Creative Cloud subscription.
  • “My research background is in image recognition and artificial intelligence techniques like machine learning and deep learning,” said Hailin Jin, a principal scientist in Adobe Research, and creator of DeepFont .
  • “I wondered – can we apply the power of machine learning with the font manual to make a useful tool for designers?”
