Practical #DeepLearning For Coders—18 hours of lessons for free

  • After this course, I cannot ignore the new developments in deep learning—I will devote one third of my machine learning course to the subject.
  • I’m a CEO, not a coder, so the idea that I’d be able to create a GPU deep learning server in the cloud meant learning a lot of new things—but with all the help on the wiki and from the instructors and community on the forum I did it!
  • Sometimes I feared whether I would be able to solve any deep learning problems, as all the research papers I read were very mathy beyond reach of simple intuitive terms.
  • But Jeremy and Rachel (Course Professors) believe in the theory of ‘Simple is Powerful’, by virtue of which anyone who takes this course will be able to confidently understand the simple techniques behind the ‘magic’ Deep Learning.
  • The course exceeded my expectations and showed me first hand how both Deep Learning and ourselves could change the world for better.

Listen To A Song Written By Artificial Intelligence, Inspired By The Beatles

Listen to a song written by artificial intelligence, inspired by The Beatles:

  • Sony CSL Research Laboratory is releasing an album next year of songs written by Artificial intelligence, and the first hit track may be this uncanny number programmed in the style of The Beatles (in all honesty it sounds a little more like The Beach Boys to me, at least through the intro).
  • French composer Benoît Carré arranged and produced the harmonies for the songs.
  • Using Sony’s Flowmachines system, the team selected a Beatles style and, well, here it is:

A Visual Introduction to Machine Learning

A Visual Introduction to #MachineLearning #abdsc

  • Using a data set about homes, we will create a machine learning model to distinguish homes in New York from homes in San Francisco.
  • Let’s say you had to determine whether a home is in San Francisco or in New York.
  • In machine learning terms, categorizing data points is a classification task.Since San Francisco is relatively hilly, the elevation of a home may be a good way to distinguish the two cities.
  • Based on the home-elevation data to the right, you could argue that a home above 240 ft should be classified as one in San Francisco.
  • The data suggests that, among homes at or below 240 ft, those that cost more than $1776 per square foot are in New York City.

Artificial intelligence can look at Google Street View to help you decide where to move — Quartz

An #AI can use #Google Street View to help you decide where to move ▷

  • An AI can use Google Street View to help you decide where to move
  • He plots 10,000 randomized points throughout a city, and grabs images taken by Google Street View.
  • The idea of extracting information from Google Street View was inspired by MIT Media Lab’s StreetScore project, Keskkula writes, where machine learning was used to rank the safety of 3,000 streets in New York and Boston.
  • Now one Estonia-based startup, Teleport , is using this idea, coupled with images from Google Street View, to automatically look around cities and see if people will like them based on their lifestyle preferences.
  • Keskkula’s example focuses on motorcycles: He owns two and is interested in a city that welcomes them.

Machine learning is at its best when there’s way too much information for any human to comb through manually, like making high-volume stock trades or surfacing the best posts from hundreds of friends on Facebook. Now one Estonia-based startup, Teleport, is using this idea, coupled with images from Google Street View, to automatically look around cities and see if people will…
