10 Super Scary Developments In Artificial Intelligence – Viral FreQ

  • That is, unfortunately, a very real fear these days, as mankind is making more and more advances in the science and technology behind AI components and robotics.
  • All it takes is for one robot to grow p*ssed off before they decide to form an uprising against humanity.
  • Lying and cheating is actually a normal human behavior.
  • But robots are only just learning to do this all on their own.
  • Researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology developed a series of robots capable of cheating and deception towards others.

Stephen Hawking, Bill Gates, and even Elon Musk are considered some of the most brilliant men on the planet, but they are all absolutely terrified of artificial intelligence taking over the world one day. That is, unfortunately, a very real fear these days, as mankind is making more and more advances in the science and technology behind AI components and robotics. All it takes is for one robot to grow p*ssed off before they decide to form an uprising against humanity. We should all be terrified of that happening. Here are ten truly scary developments in AI.

When will we have computers as capable as the brain?
  • Carver Mead
Professor emeritus, California Institute of Technology
Do you have any qualms about a future in which computers have human-level (or greater) intelligence?
  • Since we won’t have intelligent computers like humans for well over 100 years, we cannot make any sensible projections about how they will change the world, as we don’t understand what the world will be like at all in 100 years.
  • Computers are already far more capable than brains in many respects (for example, arithmetic and memory), but I think it could still be 20 to 50 years before machines have the ability to read and comprehend and reason about novel situations as fluently as people can.

Ray Kurzweil, Rodney Brooks, and others weigh in on the future of artificial intelligence

Thinking Machines: 7 of the Best Books on Artificial Intelligence

Thinking Machines: 7 of the Best Books on Artificial Intelligence

  • & &

Decades ago, if you were writing about robots, it was probably in one of two forms: either a science fiction narrative, or something short about the handful of robots that could be purchased for home or recreational use.

  • Home devices can recognize and respond to speech, prosthetic technology has been dramatically advanced, and our very understanding of what constitutes a robot has significantly changed.
  • With these advances in technology have come other questions, some pertaining to the nature of intelligence, some relating to the lines between humanity and machines, and still more that use our research into robotics to explore what makes us human.
  • So, with that in mind, here’s a look at a handful of the best books on artificial intelligence, dealing with questions of robots, body modification, the Singularity, and more.
  • Crank up Flight of the Conchords’s song set after a robot uprising and dig in.

Brains vs Artificial Intelligence: Libratus defeats human brain in poker

Brains vs Artificial Intelligence: Libratus defeats human #brain in poker

  • Will Artificial intelligence (Ai) one day become so smart that it will overrun humanity itself?
  • Stephen Hawking, the world renowned English theoretical physicist and cosmologist, rang the warning bell when he said that ‘Artificial intelligence has the potential to evolve faster than the human race’ and ‘Once machines reach a critical stage of being able to evolve themselves we cannot predict whether their goals will be the same as ours.’
  • But in what is perhaps an indication of things, an AI (Artificial intelligence) built by two Carnegie Mellon researchers thrashed four of the world’s top players in a nail biting 20-day poker tournament.
  • The tournament dubbed Brains vs Artificial Intelligence had four human players – Dong Kim, Jason Les, Jimmy Chou and Daniel McAulay – who devoted 11 hours every day in the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh to pit it all out against Libratus – a piece of software developed by researchers from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) at no-limit Texas Hold’em, a two-player unlimited form of poker.
  • We gave it the rules of poker and said ‘learn on your own’,” said Carnegie Mellon University professor of computer science Tuomas Sandholm who, along with his PhD student Noam Brown, built Libratus.

Libratus the undefeated AI has a “total speed is 1.35 petaflops, about 7,250 times as fast as a high-end laptop.

The identity of the people on Google’s artificial intelligence ethics board is still a mystery

The identy of everyone on Google’s artificial intelligence ethics board is still a mystery

  • The board was quietly created in 2014 when Google acquired the London artificial intelligence lab.
  • When pressed on the composition of Google’s AI ethics board, Suleyman said: “We’ve always said that it’s going to be very much focused on full general purpose learning systems and I think that’s very, very, far away.
  • Media and academics have called on DeepMind and Google to reveal who sits on Google’s AI ethics board so the debate about where the technology they’re developing can be carried out in the open, but so far Google and DeepMind’s cofounders have refused.
  • Last year, Suleyman said he wanted to publish the names of the people who sit on the board. “
  • The ethics board is ongoing and it’s something that we have internally to oversee some of our efforts.

Mustafa Suleyman has previously said he wants to disclose who sits on the search giants AI ethics board.
