  • Many deep learning algorithms (clustering, pattern recognition, automated bidding, recommendation engine, and so on)  — even though they appear in new contexts such as IoT or machine to machine communication — still rely on relatively old-fashioned techniques such as logistic regression, SVM, decision trees, K-NN, naive Bayes, Bayesian modeling, ensembles, random forests, signal processing, filtering, graph theory, gaming theory, and many others.

  • One aspect of our research explores how we can use compact millimeter wave systems for imaging.
  • Millimeter waves are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, similar to light and X-rays, but with much longer wavelengths.
  • For decades, researchers have used high performance computing (HPC) to simulate systems at ever-growing speeds and scales.
  • We are on a quest to build a new type of imaging technology that uses separate portions of the electromagnetic spectrum to make the invisible, visible.
  • All the tools can illuminate objects and opaque environmental conditions using different frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum such as radio waves, microwaves, millimeter waves, infrared and x-rays, and reflect them back to us in the form of an identifiable image.
